That one time I designed for Hearth and Hand with Magnolia

When you walk through Target or TJ Maxx and pick up some journals or stationery, have you ever thought of the actions it took to get there? Right after we moved to Nashville I accepted a freelance position to design for a stationery company who stocked those very shelves I used to camp out in front of. It was honestly some of the most fun 6 months of my life, but eventually I started to get discouraged that none of my hard work had ever been picked up for print.

Enter Joanna Gaines. Doesn't she make everyone's life better? My team at CR Gibson had been contracted to try their hand at some designs Joanna's team had established. I was given the cover idea, an inside weekly spread, and the desired dimensions for the planner, then I was set loose on my own to build a brand new format. I felt SO alive, and knowing that one of my favorite people ever was just 1 degree away from me was honestly invigorating.

So that's why I'm still riding on the coattails of this piece that was only sold for 2 weeks! The team I worked with is still hard at work designing other pieces for Hearth and Hand with Magnolia, along with their countless other clients, but I'm honored to have had my humble 2018 planner to cap off my time as a freelance designer at CR Gibson. Enjoy some fun little photos I took to practice my styling skills that will come in handy on wedding days.
